If i give it hexproof would that make it immortalAlso wondering if if purphoros would work in my goblin tribal deck? Seeing how Krenko, Mob Boss can make him an instant win

Purphoros, God of the Forge is violently amazing in a goblins deck.
And no, Spellskite cannot activate his ability if he is hexproof since it would force the spell to go after an illegal target. I don't think there would be a way to work even with timing everything on the stack perfectly

@mathimus55: It could work only if Spellskite didn't have hexproof to begin with, but after re-targeting the spell, gained it through something like Mizzium Skin

I was only asking because to my knowledge if a spell has no legal targets it is countered

But even if you put his ability on the stack then added Mizzium skin after the muzzium would resolve before his ability correct?

@tyforthevenom: Correct, it's countered by the game state, often known as "fizzling".
@mathimus55: Say you have a Spellskite and a Grizzly Bears and your opponent casts Doom Blade targeting the bears. You have a couple of different ways to have it work like you want it to, but with the same results.
Option 1: Cast Mizzium Skin then activate Spellskite 's ability targeting the Doom Blade . This will ensure that the Doom Blade targets Spellskite , but before it resolves, Mizzium Skin resolves, and Spellskite becomes an illegal target, which makes Doom Blade fizzle.
Option 2: Activate Spellskite 's ability, targeting Doom Blade and let the ability resolve. Now cast Mizzium Skin . The Mizzium Skin resolves before Doom Blade , giving Spellskite hexproof, thus making it an illegal target.
Though, after having written all this, I realize that you could obviously just have targeted the other creature to begin with...
Anyway, you can't change the target of a spell to an illegal target, so Go for the Throat can never be redirected from a creature onto Spellskite and a permanent hexproof, such as Alpha Authority , on the Spellskite will render its ability useless.

I very much doubt if this would work, as hexproof stops your opponent from targeting it, but Spellskite takes it upon himself to alter the target of a spell to hit itself. So your opponent isn't targeting the Spellskite .
As for Purphoros, God of the Forge he would be awesome for a Goblin deck, as 2 damage per creature that enters play with Krenko, Mob Boss can be a game ender.
