I know Lilly is an amazing card, but I was wondering which of its abilities really makes it worth so much? Is it more the fact that she is 3CMC? Explain to me why I want her XD

Really, it's a combination of the mana cost and the abilities.

is very affordable, and it means Liliana of the Veil comes down early enough to have a great impact. You could theoretically turn-two it, and even if you cast it on turn three, you're still going to do some work.

You choose between the +1 and -2 depending on board state. +1 feeds your Tarmogoyf and allows you to put pressure on your opponent while tossing less useful cards. You can make up for the discard with Dark Confidant . The -2 is good against fragile voltron strategies, and it can shut down hexproof aura decks if you get it down early enough.

Is this Lilly worth it for an EDH deck or ehh not really? :3

I guess the answer has to be "it depends," but I personally don't think so. The abilities are much more limited, and they are more easily counteracted. EDH is a completely different environment, and it should never be assumed that impact in 60-card formats translates to impact in EDH (and vice versa).

Of course, there are some decks and some metas in which Liliana of the Veil will be effective, and it might be worth running it in those decks and metas. But that's something you decide through a combination of theorycrafting and playtesting.

I think she would be fine in one V one EDH not free for all lol

Even then it's situational. There's a lot of draw power in EDH, so the +1 is not nearly as crippling. The -2 is also a little underwhelming.

In EDH/Commander, she's only worthwhile if the +1 ability is helpful to the essential strategy of the deck. For example, I have one in my deck built around The Mimeoplasm .

Once u are forced to top deck against a Lilly, u'll understand just how powerful she can be. She literally controls the board by herself. If u have a manland down as well, it's almost always curtains for your opponent. U can either A) play what u draw and she'll most likely -2 it or u can not play what u draw and she can +1 it. Not to mention, her ultimate is extremely achievable.

I call it the ''Lili hole", when your opponent has no board state, and is hoping for a good topdeck. Theyre stuck playing what they draw right then and there, or discarding it next turn, and even if they do play their topdeck card, it will likely be removed anyways.

The Lili hole is deep, and there not much hope for getting out once you are in.

Liliana of the Veil is the best resource-attacking planeswalker. She forces combo to discard cards, and aggro to sacrifice creatures. Coming down on turn 3 and continuing to symmetrically attack hands while Dark Confidant redraws you those cards is very powerful, and paired with strong removal/ other discard spells for what does stay, she is a complete house.

If you want to beat her, play Loxodon Smiter , Obstinate Baloth or Wilt-Leaf Liege .
