How does Protection work??

I have Absolute Law and I am playing against someone with a Krenko, Mob Boss deck. I was wondering in my opponent can still attack my life points directly. With creatures, sorcery, or instants, etc. For example: He has Goblin War Strike

Your opponent will still be able to cast damage spells that target you and attack you, yes (though chances are that it will be difficult if your entire team has pro-red and they're a mono-red deck). Only the creatures have protection from red, which means they can't be targeted, damaged, or blocked by anything red.

In the case of Absolute Law, it gives all creatures Protection from Red. Protection from Red means that creatures can't be blocked by red creatures, dealt damage from red sources, targeted by red spells or abilities, or enchanted by anything red. Your opponent can still attack you, since you don't have protection from red, though any non-red creatures you have will be able to block red creatures and won't take any damage in combat from red creatures.

An easy way to remember Protection is "DEBT" ... stuff can't be Damaged, Enchanted, Blocked, nor Targeted.

Runed Halo or Burrenton Forge-Tender might be what you're looking for.

I'm looking to prevent mass damage done to my life points. Would those two cards you mentioned protect my life points from those high powered sorcery cards and when he has over 20 Goblin token on the battlefield

Yes, both will protect you. Cast Runed Halo naming Goblin War Strike and he won't be able to target you with it. Sacrifice Burrenton Forge-Tender as he casts Goblin War Strike and you can prevent all the damage it would deal to you.

That said, Runed Halo won't protect you from anything besides the card you've named and Burrenton Forge-Tender can only be used once, so neither of them will be the definitive answer to your problems.

I would like to point an important tidbit.
Protection prevents damage (instead of hazy terminology like "can't be damaged"), and there are multiple red cards that stop damage prevention from happening.

Insult, Leyline of Punishment, Skullcrack (if its cast targeting source that lacks the "hexproof" granted by protection), Wild Slash, Wild Slash
