Why is Serum Visions worth more than $5? I get that it's a good card (I run a playset in my Tempo deck), but it's a common. All it does is fix your draws. It does it well, but it's no Ponder or Preordain . What's caused its spike?

Fair enough. Why has it spiked now in particular? Is it just because of Modern season?

It's also essential in Storm, which is apparently a top-tier deck now.

I forgot about Storm. I can see why it would be useful in there. When did Storm become tier 1?

When Deathrite Shaman got banned, it's heavily graveyard reliant, so Deathrite was a real pain, now it's just really good.

I've never actually seen a tier 1 Storm deck being played. How does it work with the graveyard?

Pyromancer Ascension . The deck is actually called "Pyromancer Ascension Storm"

Pyromancer Ascension relies on spells being in the graveyard to get counters on, so if you have none of your key spells in the graveyard you usually can't get off the ground. I t also use Past in Flames to cast everything from the graveyard again, essentially doubling your Storm counts, which is what really enables the deck.

TitansFTW - Storm also made the top 8 of the Pro Tour, so there's that. Tom Martell actually posted some Youtube videos of him piloting the Storm deck on ChannelFireball if you're interested to see how the deck runs.

It's the best deck manipulation spell in modern, a format that needs a good deck manipulation spell. I hate the card more than anything, and I run Gitaxian Probe in its stead.
