Which deck to run Thousand-Year Storm in

Commander Deck Help forum

I've got two decks that I'm try to decide between in running Thousand-Year Storm . Currently, it's in my Ydris deck, Yidris, Maelstrom Thief, but the focus of that deck has changed to be more of a theft deck, with less focus on instants and sorceries. I'm considering dropping it an slotting it into my Kalamax deck, Lightning-Butt Strikes Back!.

Just looking for some thoughts on this. Thanks!

While I'm sure Yidris can use it, Kalamax was nearly made for copying spell shenanigans, I'd almost always choose Kalamax is you want it in a deck!

Or Veyran, Voice of Duality for even more storm triggers

any RU deck that actually aims to cast multiple spells in a turn. if you're not already doing that, it won't matter who your commander is. you'd most likely want Past in Flames in the deck.

Past in Flames is a nice suggestion, too.

Kalamax is already so good you don’t really need thousand year storm as you can already go infinite quite easily, which is more or less the end result of storming a card anyways. Although it doesn’t hurt to add it in for fun!

Necrosis24 I considered whether TYS would just be win-more in Kalamax, but the focus of the deck is combat damage through combat tricks, so copying more spells means pushing more damage through. Infinite combos are in there, but they are not the focus of the deck.

It felt like overkill in kalamax so i cut it, the deck tends to want to play bigger spells rather than a bunch of cards to chain together. I really love the Veyran, Voice of Duality suggestion tho.
