Building a Commander Eldrazi Deck

Commander Deck Help forum

Posted on Dec. 16, 2016, 9:52 a.m. by Forestxavier20

I found a Kozilek, the Great Distortion back when I was getting into Magic again. I have collected a lot of newer cards, and found a lot of good Eldrazi cards, but I want to know if anyone has a good deck with Kozilek as the commander. If you can, send me a link to it please.

Check out Kozilek at EDHREC.com

I have seen old Koz in the command zone and he is brutal. However if you are (rightfully) hesitant to play colorless EDH, I jave seen some really cool Eldrazi decks with Rakdos, Lord of Riots at the helm. Animar, Soul of Elements is a great choice as well.

Colorless EDH is boring as fuck. All you end up doing is playing enablers and big dumb stuff.

I wasn't planning on running mono colorless. I was planning on Red/Black/Green with a lot of Devoid cards. Running Mono only works if it can cover every aspect of battle, from defending with brutes, attacking with an army or brutes, and having a proper defense so my offense doesn't get the better, along with spells to boost cards so I can take more on

TheDevicer how about instead of jamming your opinion down peoples throats you be helpful instead.

Forestxavier20 i use to play a karn deck that was quite fun. i would recommend avoiding wastes and using lands that do interesting things. this

is a decent place to look. of course if they are too much money use wastes. and edhrec is a great starting point as others pointed out.

Forestxavier20 How do you plan on using Kozilek, the Great Distortion as as well as using Red/Black/Green? Commander deck construction rules won't allow such a thing.

I think you should clarify what you're looking for. Do you want to use Kozilek as your Commander or do you want to build a deck with those colors?

If you're going for pure colorless, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth is probably a better choice. With enough rocks and ramp, you could have him out very early, making winning by Commander damage relevant. Drawing cards off of the cast trigger is also very good. I'd include Kozilek, the Great Distortion in your 99 though.

If you want to look into incorporating colors into your deck, than he aforementioned Animar, Soul of Elements and Rakdos, Lord of Riots are nice. Using as a huge source of ramp, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds is nice too.

iAzire I assume he means a B/R/G/x commander deck with Kozilek in it.

if this is in fact what you mean, I would suggest G/U since Kruphix, God of Horizons can ramp you in colorless and green and blue have natural synergies.

If colorless commander is what you like, id suggest Karn, Silver Golem since the backup plan besides generate colorless is to lockdown opponents or aggro them with artifacts.

chaosumbreon87 Yeah it's hard to be sure. They said in the OP that they wanted Kozilek, the Great Distortion as the Commander, then in a comment that that wanted to use Red/Black/Green.

I posted my deck as it is a Eldrazi deck, and it uses Kozilek, Butcher of Truth as the Commander in Multiplayer games.

If they are looking for colors, then I can't help with that lol. Haven't done that myself.

I do like the Kruphix, God of Horizons suggestion though, I built one of those myself. It is fun and effective.
