Gogo aggro —July 6, 2012
I took this to it's first FNM that wasn't a Two-headed Giant, and it went really well. I'll prelude the update by saying that I was finally able to trade for my last 2 Green Sun's Zeniths which I feel has really improved my deck.
First set I was against a UR Delver deck that most people seemed to struggle to beat. I took that set 2-1. My second set was against a friend of mine who was running a really slow Planeswalker only deck that I had played before FNM started, and well, basically my deck was WAY to aggro for him to be able to do anything about it. I took that 2-0 damn quickly.
Third set was against a Bant Aggro deck that absolutely destroyed me after I had to mulligan down to 5 both games, and then had no follow ups. 0-2 to my opponent.
Final set was against a Tezzeret deck that was a little weird. First game went for half an hour.In the end I was able to mill him out with 2 of my Sword of Body and Mind. Post sideboard I had 8 cards to put in: 6 artifact/enchantment removal in the form of Ancient Grudge and Naturalize and then my 2 Zealous Conscripts which had won me previous games. My opponent was able to get out one of his Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas and made 3 5/5 artifacts. I would have probably won if he had played a one of the Wurmcoil Engines which he had revealed off of Tezzs' +1, as I did have a Zealous Conscripts in hand and he had been tapped out with his creatures, and had more than enough mana to play the Engine and still have plenty of mana left over. So with a 1-1 score, we finish shuffling up for game three when time was called.
Overall I came 6th, and have a much better understanding of the deck, and I think that the new addition of the Vorapedes will be great with the extra tutor in the deck.
