Taste like mushroom, talk like people! —April 9, 2014
Journey into Nyx — THEROS 3/3
It's the last round for Theros and Thelon the Blightlord is pleased.
Maybe next block brings greener pastures for the mushroom-folk.
- Temple of Malady - Forgotten temple of blight and pestilence. Most likely too expensive for the budget but we'll see.

Pretty neat. +1. I have a minotaur tribal deck that's pretty fun and enjoyable and built around fun over effectiveness as well. It's budget is definitely higher than $50 though. I only spent about $25 to build it, the rest of the cards I had sitting around somewhere.

Hollis: that article appears to have been released with the first round of official Commander decks from Wizards. EDH, however, has always been a fan format first, and the rules have evolved slightly over time. This deck can be green/back because the color identity of a commander is defined by both its mana cost and rules text.

Indeed. The color identity rule wasn't there in the beginning and a lot of players don't know about it because it only affects several cards in the whole game. :)
Just like cklise said, color identity counts ALL mana symbols in the card, both cost and text box (not counting rule reminder texts like Extort tho').
Can't remember if there are any more but at least these generals have special color identity:
- Thelon of Havenwood : Green/Black
- Daughter of Autumn : Green/White
- Memnarch : Blue
- Bosh, Iron Golem : Red

although it's not as thematic... But you can hit planeswalkers, which is relevant.

It's not strictly better, with the noncreature clause (ie, can't target artifact creatures, etc), but it is nice that it can hit planeswalkers.

i guess you cant put Doubling Season or Primal Vigor in there because of their cost
