Did you make the alter? It's just AMAZING! Everytime I see a Dune deck I can't help but upvote. We should have a DEDH league, where we can play our arrakis themed decks and build stories around how the game goes.

No I don’t paint. I’m working on getting much of this deck altered to be Dune-themed art though. Cereal Alters painted the commander. I would love to play other Dune decks someday. I think it would be coolest if each one was built around one of the factions like the Dune board game. Could really build a story out of that.

tolarianscientist: well, here's a folder full of Dune-themed decks. If you ever find any more, please let me know! =D

FenIsABasicSwamp: Ooooh, lol. There's an idea worth discussing!

I saw this deck and had to say that i seriously loved the books and movie with a passion, but is this deck supposed to be EDH legal? I am still relativly new in the mtg comminity, so someone correct me if i am wrong, but doesn't the commander have to be a legendary creature? Or is this something intended for a specific play group with its own rules? Either way it is amazing that you did this, and i applaud.

dashfury thank you for leaving a comment and welcome to the EDH community! Yes, the commander has to be a legendary for a legal deck. However, Maro, the lead designer for Magic is on record saying it was a mistake not making the Nephilim legendary because there's only one of each in the story. They were made before WotC took EDH into account when making cards. Many people accept errata that they are legendary and I always ask before I sit down if it's okay with everyone. It's not as though the general is dangerously powerful to have in the command zone.

Glad to share and discuss with passionate like-minded people like you!

Excellent deck and wonderful page. I love every bit of this and I commend you for your crafting. Keep in mind though that when you bring this out to play, you may need a copy of Saskia the Unyielding to stand in as the commander, since it is the only legendary creature in the right colors, for playgroups that will not allow the Nephilim as a commander by exception.

Thanks for the compliments and consideration Gracco. I would never play this deck helmed by Saskia and if I sat down at a table where people had an issue with Dune-brood then I just wouldn’t play the deck with them. I have many others. There are numerous partner pairs that would work as the generals also.

Looks good. Seems to be very high synergy, with many combos and other cool stuff. This deck will go a long way in my opinion. BUT...1. There is no Sol Ring! One of the most insane commander cards ever invented, Sol Ring Is a broken turn 1 ramp card.2. Definitely would pop in a Skullclamp. Once again, a greatly loved commander cards. It is a personal pet card of mine, for all token decks. Also, can we get a Command Tower in here please? It is one of the best commander cards ever invented. I would put this card in any 2-5 color commander deck. Consider those options. Thanks for listening to me rant, but I will leave a plus one. I will provide more feedback when I can find more cards for you. Overall though, seems good.

Yarok I appreciate and even encourage your enthusiasm but suggestions are not needed for this deck. I’ve been playing EDH for a decade. Those cards aren’t in this deck because I didn’t want them to be. Playing any lands without basic types is undesirable in this deck because of all the fetches and things like Perilous Forays and with all the revised duals and now the two triomes, it is perfectly fine on colored mana lands. Sol Ring doesn’t help me cast Dune Brood and I generally just don’t like playing the card in every deck, much less green decks. Skullclamp is also obviously excellent but serves no Vorthos purpose and I play it in many of my other decks so I wanted to go a different direction in this one. Again, thanks for taking the time to comment and offer your thoughts but I’m happy with this deck how it is.

Wow, I never thought of that. This deck still gets an upvote tho ;)

I'd say Skullclamp does fit in the vorthos theme of Dune... in a Harkonnen deck. So yeah, not here.

June 11, 2020 4:15 a.m.

You’re absolutely right about that. A skullclamp would definitely be a Harkonnen torture device on GP.

My son is looking forward to the new Dune movie. Love the deck. Created a few HQ alters to go with it. Plan on making more.

World Shaper - Leto

Knight of the Reliquary - Chani

Hazezon Tamar - Paul

This one is perhaps better for Hazezon/Paul. enter image description here

Thanks for stopping by Silvan and cool digital alters. I have a real life altered Hazezon and World Shaper already, and Knight of the Reliquary will be getting altered next year to be Chani. Hope you and your son enjoyed my take on the deck and Vorthos and I hope you enjoy the movie!

I LOVE THIS DECK!!!

Great art and great concept. The story and lore of DUNE is amazing. So glad I stumbled upon this deck/page. +1 from me.

January 2, 2021 10:04 p.m.

Mcat1999 it's not a real card. It's art from the Duniverse of Paul. I just set it to be an alter of a card and then selected that alter to be the featured card so it would display.

FenIsABasicSwamp man how I love this Masterpice since I saw it a long time ago.

I'm also a fan of the Dune universe, so I've never tired of looking your deck from time to time. I think we in casual EDH should try to do more decks like this one than only optimized decks with scarce flavor. Thanks for sharing it!
