Surprise but Hollow Victory! —Aug. 21, 2025
Played a game tonight, and had a surprise victory. Went against the Jund space station sac lands, Jund discard, and gruul landfall decks. I got Beastmaster Ascension on turn two with a turn one Sol. By turn four, got Beastmaster online thanks to Karlach giving me two combats.
Even after Beastmaster got destroyed, and my board wiped, I was able to get a victory in with Karlach combat and... Kamahl and making my lands creatures. So the I won against tuned up decks, but it feels hollow since it wasn't with squirrels.
Yeah, squirrels helped me get everyone to critical levels, I only ever had three squirrels on the field. Definitely need better draw, cuz I never got my other piece of my infinite combo again until it was too late.

I saw your update and wonder if you've thought about using some of Green's anti-air effects? Off the top of my head I can remember Squallmonger, Katabatic Winds, and Silklash Spider? There is also Sandwurm Convergence and good old Hurricane that could be helpful? The idea would be to replace removal. Red has Gravity Sphere and Chaosphere, neither is super budget because Red isn't as good at this.
