Caerwyn Aside from Cryptic Spires, do any cards have mana symbols somewhere outside of the mana cost and rules text? I guess Deathmark and Star Compass, but I'd be surprised if anyone considers art to be a color identity determinant.

Cryptic Spires is not banned in Commander - you should post on this thread so the card can be fixed.

Additionally, pinecone2k3 is incorrect about Cryptic Spires’ colour identity. It is a common misconception that Colour Identity looks at what mana symbols appear on the card - more accurately, it looks at the mana symbols which appear in the card’s mana cost and rules text.

The mana symbols on Cryptic spires might physically appear on the card, but are only considered part of the rules text once circled. So, if you circle the Blue and Black symbols, the colour identity will only be Blue/Black.

The Grandest General

Legendary Creature-Shapeshifter

As you create your deck, circle any of the colors below, The Grandest General in now those colors plus his base cost is 6 for each color you circle reduce is mana cost by 1

You may have up 4 creature with Grandeur in your deck and whenever you activate a grandeur effect copy it you may choose a new target for the copy

So a Grandeur commander (if feel that it would very viable if you can use the playset) that has a flexible color base Cryptic Spires inspired he will cost 6 the first time for each color of mana you remove a generic mana from his cost as the colored mana takes it's place

Make a commander based on another good mechanic that terrible in commander

Cryptic Spires. Can you change the colors you choose, or is it permanent? I mean, it's not a great card by itself, but it's still another Pauper dual land.

Also, if it's intended to be permanent, I believe that means Inspirational Antelope joins the ranks of Recycla-bird and Graveyard Dig as "fake" effects that may have been more real than anyone thought. Louvaq, the Aberrant didn't quite make it.
