Treasure Map  Flip and clones

Asked by chosenone124 6 years ago

My opponent has a Treasure Map  Flip. I cast Clever Impersonator copying it. Over the course of a few turns I get a second landmark counter.

If I activate the Treasure Map (that was a Clever Impersonator) will I get Treasure? Trying to see if I can get infinite treasure with Clock of Omens.

You perform the actions on the card as best you can. You'll scry 1, then put a landmark counter on Treasure Map. Then as there are three or more landmark counters on it you'll remove those counters, attempt and fail to transform Treasure Map, then create three colorless Treasure artifact tokens with "Tap, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool." As you have to remove the the counters, it doesn't really go infinite, but you could get to the point where you're scrying a bunch and creating treasure each turn.

If the clever impersonator comes back as the original treasure map that would be quite broken. It seems like the impersonator makes a new choice as it enters the battlefield, so if the original treasure map flips he won't come back as a copy of it.
