Sphinx of the Final Word

When playing against (or when it is put onto the battle field for the first time) Sphinx of the Final Word can you use a counter target spell to keep this card from resolving onto the battle field. If not how or what can you use to get rid of this card.

The first ability in Sphinx of the Final Word's text box is "Sphinx of the Final Word can't be countered." You can cast a counterspell targeting a Sphinx of the Final Word on the stack, but the counterspell won't actually counter Sphinx of the Final Word.

As stated in the card itself Sphinx of the Final Word its uncounterable, meaning spells and abilities that counter cannot be used to prevent it from comming into play.

However cards that exile spells like Summary Dismissal can do the trick.

Once a creature with hexproof or shroud hits the table its really hard to get rid of it depending on the format you are playing, for the sake of this answer im going to asume you are playing commander.

Te most common way to get rid of this kind of anoying creatures is by using spells that target the player instead of the creature, like Wing Shards or Geth's Verdict, or that dont target anything at all Wrath of God, Damnation.

Hope this helps.
