Question does darksteel forge work for artifact creatures?

Asked by zer0lev3l 7 years ago

Was playing magic with a friend with a newly build Artifact deck. Wondering if Darksteel Forge would with Artifice creature like Chief Engineer would make them indestructible or not because the are not Artifacts. Would you need to use Mycosynth Lattice.

Forge only grants indestructible to permanents you control with the "Artifact" type in their type line. Chief Engineer does not have that therefore he won't be indestructible.

In order to fix this, you must give him the artifact type. (Ex: Mycosynth Lattice or Liquimetal Coating)

Your question's title is about artifact creatures, like Etherium Sculptor, which are made indestructable by Darksteel Forge. This is because they have Artifact in their typeline. Artificer creatures, however, like the Chief Engineer you linked, are not indestructible. Artifact is a card type, and appears before the -. Artificer is a creature type, meaning a subtype, and appears after the -.
