Oath of Lim Dul + Cadaverous Bloom

Asked by Quickspell 4 years ago

I've read about Oath of Lim-Dul and Cadaverous Bloom being a good combo. But does that even work? Aren't both cards discard costs different costs that need to be paid independently?

Well, it is probably, because of the second thing Oath does:

: Draw a card.

While Bloom says:

Exile a card from your hand: Add .

In essence, combining the two means you can draw your whole deck.

I see, so it works well to get your combo out fast but you'd also send all the rest into exile. That's risky...

Well, it is more than that - this combination of two cards means "Search your deck for X cards, where X is the number of cards in your hand, then put those cards in your hand. Exile all other cards in your hand and library except those you searched for."

So, if you have say, a Laboratory Maniac in your deck and mana available, you win the game.

With combos like this ( Temple Bell and Mind Over Matter being another one), your goal is to dig to find Laboratory Maniac or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries , and then continue to dig until you mill yourself. Using just those two cards you can both find your remaining combo piece and then finish combining until you win the game.

Also, in the future, if you have questions about how cards interact, please use the Rules Q&A forum. It has some added functionality, such as the ability to Mark as Answer a post to indicate your question has been resolved. I went ahead and moved this for you.

Edit: Boza beat me to it.

Thank you both, I got it now. And sorry, I'll ask in Rules Q&A next time!
