So I just had a pretty cool experience. I was playing some surf on CS:GO (I know, soooooo hardcore) and I was talking with the randoms. After a while, we started talking about dayz, the mod for arma 2, and I said that I love arma 3, but I cant play dayz because I dont have arma 2. one of the randoms just friended me out of nowhere like 12 seconds later and gifted me arma 2 combined operations. so now I have arma 2 and all the dlc.

Won game day with no cost colossus today. Feelsgoodman

October 22, 2016 7:13 p.m.

I wish I had time to go to game day. I have a sweet brew with literally like 4 cards from the pro tour, most of which I had already. Also doesn't help that the cards were delivered yesterday according to the package tracker but are not actually here afaik. It's actually pretty good; my friend who is a fairly skilled control player tested against it with the deck that won the Pro Tour (to be fair, he's not Shota), and I was able to take one out of two games (untap crashed). Seems decent.

@Noises - That's great! I was helping a friend playtest vs decks and was put on UW flash. Wanted to buy the deck so bad once we moved on to other matchups.

I while back, I got into altering cards. Then life hit me in the face pretty hard. Hence the TO Rank drop from top 5 to below top 100. Was forced to abandon altering for a while. Recently got back into the hobby.

First alter since I got back into it and my 5th alter all in all: Show

Just began working on an Ob Nixilis Reignited. Bit of an ambitious project since I still suck at this, but we'll see.

Is anyone else rioting because there's only one Nephilim in C16?

October 28, 2016 6:13 p.m.

Our left or stage left?

I'm not really rioting, but I feel they could have easily included them in the decks, especially the non-blue one. That being said, I do like the designs of all of them. Anyone else trying to figure out a way to break Yidris?

October 28, 2016 7:17 p.m.

Actually, I'm a bit more upset that they didn't just have one full cycle of rare lands. Like, they totally could have just done the check lands (Atraxa would have gotten Glacial Fortress and Hinterland Harbor and so on around the cycle.)

Any Bioshock fans out there? Do we know what Ken Levine is currently working on? Because I just found out that while Bioshock 4 is in the works, Levine left the group that produced Bioshock 1 and Infinite.

Hey so this might not be the best place for it but maybe someone can help me out. I'm trying to figure out how to make vertical lines in deck descriptions but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I see it all the time on this site but I don't know how to do it. if someone could help that'd be great!

November 4, 2016 1:28 p.m.

Arvail says... #23

I played Infinite and despite the game's many flaws, I found it to be one of the most profound gaming experiences I've ever had. I've played lots of games but none so far have made me personally want to end someone's life; not as someone controlling an avatar, but as myself. That realization was heavy enough for me to have to drop the controller and sit back and think.

I tried running Bioshock on my PC but the controls were so awful that I dropped the game shortly after starting. It remains something I'd love to play but is one of the few games I'd like to play on a console.

November 4, 2016 10:19 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #24

Bioshock isn't bad on PC with controller. The narrative is a mindfuck though.

November 4, 2016 10:22 p.m.

Arvail says... #25

If I'm going to sit down and play with a controller, I might as well do it in front of my TV on a couch. My PC's a potato anyway. Only problem is my only controller right now is busted (hence why I still haven't played a single dark souls game).

Having a bit of a dilemma atm. I play with a pretty odd EH group. We've got a pretty lenient ban list, allow proxies, and play fairly competitively. All our decks are proxied other than the primary decks we built for our local shop league. The league itself is semi-competitive with us being the best players. After having sunk $200 to $500 on decks, we were able to dominate the event.

However, that leaves me with a pretty unfun deck to play against for most players. It's a combo control Grand Arbiter list. Not exactly something you love to see across the table for most players.

I've been thinking of getting Breya's precon, sprucing it up a bit, making it heavily based on good stuff artifact interactions, and dropping in the Thopter+Sword+Ashnod's and Displacer+Ashnod's combos mainly as backups. Would you guys think your average shop goer would appreciate that more? I'm pretty lacking when it comes to casual experience. Is having tutors and two combos too much for randoms?

November 6, 2016 6:33 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #28

I'd go for worldgorger/animate dead and Palinchron/deadeye over the ashnods combos personally but I think as long as your combo isn't your primary focus you should be fine IMO

November 6, 2016 6:51 p.m.

Arvail says... #29

I'm not a fan of the gorger combo in casual as I can't use gorger for fun stuff AND I don't have easy ways to land it in my yard. I'd have to tune the list to include non-good stuff cards and that makes the deck more streamlined. I also don't own a Palinchron and the flicker shenanigans that you can do with deadeye are possible through the displacer. I first built a pretty tuned list based around combos that included the gorger, actually.

I thought that Bioshock Infinite was very good. Then I got to the end, and was super freaking excited due to how it tied into Bioshock 1 and 2. Honestly had the biggest grin on my face. Then I went back and replied Bioshock 1, and realized just how mediocre Bioshock Infinite really was. Was an interesting experience.

I played Bioshock 1 and 2 on console when they were out, played Infinite on PC, and replayed 1 on PC.

And honestly? The controls for Infinite and 1 were absolutely fine on PC for me, not sure exactly what issues you were having. Well, it was annoying that right click automatically used your selected power on Infinite, but for Bioshock 1, right click toggles your gun/plasmid.

As far as Bioshock 2 goes, it's quite like Infinite. It's more of a faster paced shooter than a horror/shooter, and while the overlying story wasn't as interesting as the original, it does share the series trend for absolutely fantastic endings.

Anyway, I would definitely suggest going back and playing the original Bioshock. And don't play the remastered version, play the original. Wrench ftw.

Honestly, I think a lot of people will be surprised when America survives. I'm not a Trump supporter, but there are a few things that give me a lot of hope that his presidency won't drive us into the ground.

First, the speech he gave shortly after elected shows that he is able, if not willing, to tone down his bullshit and get the country together.

Second, the president has very little actual policy-making power. Sure, he can veto a bill, but extreme stuff like building a wall won't make it through Congress, no matter how much he wants it. In addition, I think his lack of political experience means that folks in Congress are less likely to listen to him when considering new policy.

Third, the government is a lot more structured today than it has been in the past. Andrew Jackson got away with the trail of tears, but I don't think anybody would let Trump get away with anything insane like that today, and if he does anything too bad, he can always be impeached.

Will he be the best president? No. Will he be the worst? I'd be unsurprised if he is, but I have hope as of this moment.

Let's talk about the things you hate the most about yourself. I am currently very frustrated with my inability to motivate myself for anything. I only do things when I absolutely have to. I run late all the time because I wait till the last possible second. It's such a drag and annoying because afterwards I'm like "damn it, because of this I had more work than in the beginning".
Even in magic i more often then not make the play that is the easiest, not the best, because I hate calculating in my head. I can never bring myself to think for 2 mins because it seems like too much work. (Best example: Combat math. Can i make favorable blocks, etc.)
What about you guys and girls?

November 10, 2016 5:54 p.m.

Well to be fair grixis doesn't have a lot of ways to interact with walkers. There's usually only 3 in modern, 2 are more expensive than grixis typically has to worry about and 1 doesn't really touch them.

Koth is very strong against Terminate.dec since he's animating lands every turn and his ramp can't be ignored. Also, the eternal scourge loop was a nightmare for him.
