is he even used in any viable decks anymore?

Here

Put in "Dark Confidant". Select format to be "Modern". All decks will appear.

Basically Junk and Jund on rare occasions. He is not used that much anymore.

Bob is back to being in almost all Jund lists. He's seeing a lot more play now than he was a few months ago.

This may be a dumb question but what Jund archetypes are there?

Like it isn't terrible.

Card advantage is always good, In a way it may end up protecting your combo as it needs to be removed or you are very likely to win the game regardless.

I just really want to play splinter twin and play bob haha I know that all the blue probably gives it enough card advantage but id like it to work.

There are grixis twin lists out there. I don't think ol bob is in them but they at least have discard and such.

Yeah they usually play the obvious Thoughtseize Inquisition of Kozilek, etc. But I have yet to see one with bob,I'm going to test it out on forge

He is seeing a lot of play in jund lists because they are more controlling than the abzan lists. Control decks prioritise card advantage more than beat down decks hence his presence in jund and not abzan.

He does not see play anywhere else.

He is too slow for twin probably and they have serum visions and cryptic command and all sorts of other ways to dig anyway.

I play a Dega list that's built around Monastery Mentor and I play Bob for card advantage. Its not tier 1 but I've had pretty decent success at relatively competitive FNM level events.

I think you have to wait until burn dies down significantly to be sleeving up your bobs. Burn is top tier, and with Atarka's Command they're really good, having bob just makes their job incrementally easier.

Burn has always been prevalent and dark confidant has always been played in jund. The Jund player just chooses to not cast their dark confidant against a burn player. Problem solved. Or if they do they use it purely as a chump blocker against goblin guide.

Burn is basically the big problem with bob. too much life loss. And black also has the only viable Delve cards left, and for the most part bob is less valuable than Tasigur and Murderous Cut in terms of card advantage.

May 24, 2015 8:11 p.m.

Here's a plan: Board out your Bobs against Burn and Affinity. You still get card advantage where you want it and no life loss where you don't want it.

Yes, I know it still hurts game 1. There's the chance that you only hit lands and ones, remember.

Willy Edel recently posted an Abzan list with Bob and no Siege Rhino. I'm a fan.

Jund is definitely legit, and that's about the only place he's good, opposed to playable.
