Boros Death and Taxes Abomination idea

Modern Deck Help forum

ive been thinking (Never a good thing) and I came up with a deck idea that is probably terrible, but I wanna see where it can go. With Harsh Mentor being just the most hateful card for modern I could imagine us getting, I kept thinking of my death and taxes legacy deck. Why not make something like it in Modern with red? Aside from Karakas and Wasteland, we have most of the pieces that the legacy version has, along with now the Mentor, as well as the ending combination of Nahiri into Emrakul. Question is, can we combine hatebears and control in a way to either kill the enemy with out hate (Eidolon and Mentor maybe?) or just keep them taxed enough for us to get the Nahiri off with stuff like Mindcensor and Thalia.

What are your guys' thoughts on a deck like this? Any ideas? I'd love to hear suggestions :)

Harsh Mentor is brutal.
It also punishes greedy mana bases to a degree that is not seen before, fetching requires 3 life, shock lands untap for 4 life.
Its also useful against a multitude of fringe cards and decks, like everything lantern control plays, or Pendelhaven in infect, all the value cards in affinity... etc.
Its here to stay with us for sure.

Sadly it doesn't trigger on activated abilities of planeswalkers.

I see the appeal of adding red to hatebears decks (Eidolon of the Great Revel, Magus of the Moon, Ash Zealot... etc.).The problem is that these cards are not universal hatecards, and best when used in conjuction with something like Imperial Recruiter, which is only available in legacy :/
