But I missed it, so feel free to delete this post if so. Anyways..

I was scrolling my facebook, and came across this here.

It is basically a discussion about some guy who supposedly heard rumors of the recent ban list update, as well as info on this upcoming "Eternal Masters" set. He claims he over heard it from some vendor at a GP. I found this very interesting, so i wanted to discuss it.

So what do you all think about this leak? Do you believe this guys story? Do you think it is acceptable for vendors to have knowledge of upcoming ban list updates? I do not. What could WoTC do to prevent this from happening?

Check out the link, and maybe some of the links off of that page, give me some opinions.

And again, I apologize if this has already been discussed. I dont have consistent internet access anymore, so this is the first im hearing of it.

Thanks For looking!

If there is an Eternal Masters, it better have normal card quality (like Conspiracy or the first Modern Masters), not the flimsy, glossy Duel Decks-level quality that Modern Masters 2 had. Especially if packs are gonna be $10 apiece. That's my main concern.

It all strikes me as pretty reasonable.

WotC tossing some love at Legacy players is a wise business move. As to the specifics of such a supplemental product.. who knows. I don't think that's worth speculating on.

I also would not be surprised in the least to find WotC discusses upcoming bans/product with major vendors or highly invested parties outside WotC's office. In fact, we know they do this, with things like card testing (ie. rancord elf lawsuit). The power dynamic is always such that it is in the person's interest to not leak the information, as it will disqualify them from future advanced warnings/knowledge. Leaks are generally only a product of information falling outside those peoples hands, or their acting irresponsibly.

Concievably, two suits in the know could run into each other at an event and discuss something in the open. They're not talking nuclear launch codes here; and after all, what player runs off and sells his twin deck off after overhearing 2 random guys conversation about bannings? Being confident enough to risk nothing by posting it on reddit, does not a reliable source make.

So given the semi-verification this guy now has, eternal masters seems plausible - but i'd say anyone is a fool if they base any financial buy/sell descisons on this.

...Wow. But would this even be economically sane for Wizards? I mean, I can imagine that any set with just FoW as a mythic would put up a pretty expensive price per pack, but with Wasteland, S&T, Lotus Petal, etc? Oh, and fetches, which would almost certainly be rare. Damn. If this happens, I might consider buying in to MTG again.

you know, i wonder if this could be a result of companies like scg or whatever paying wizards employees for inside information?

If this comes to fruition, I'm doing everything in my power to get boxes, even if they MSRP for 1k.

If it were just SCG that got info spoiled to them, it would sit with me a little better. But what if this was a vendor getting this info, just some guy. SCG is like the largest card moving business there is, so it seems fair, but not for some vendor. What makes them any more significant than any other random person selling cards? And Furthermore, even if this was someone from WoTC speaking of such matters with someone from SCG, wouldnt they at least discuss it in private, instead of DURING A GP, where any number of people could potentially overhear? There's an entire stock market for these cards, so information like this shouldn't be taken so casually.

nayrash5 i imagine that if this "Eternal Masters" set is real, it will be somewhere around modern master prices, maybe more. I would definitely be buying at least a couple boxes.

I may just be gullible, but I believe this will happen. So woohoo! I may be able to finally get those Scalding Tarns.

It's bad if vendors know ahead of time information that allows them to manipulate the market. It screws over the players, and benefits only the company. It's like insider trading, a practice which is illegal, by the way.

I'm super excited for Eternal Masters if it's actually a thing. Like, I might try to buy into legacy with shocklands instead of ABURs if Force of Will and Stoneforge Mystic get cheap enough.

Someone on MTGS noted that the link to the Reserved List has 404'd.

So get your tin-foil hats ready! It's time for a conspiracy!

January 23, 2016 2:23 p.m.

Whoa whoa wait a sec. No Reserve List?? UNWARRANTED HYPE!!!

I don't know about you guys, but I would totally wear one of those tin foil hats for a week willingly if that got rid of the Reserve List.

404's can mean a lot of things.

Don't get your hopes up that a company will ruin it's integrity for the common people.

January 23, 2016 3:53 p.m.

Yeah, it means nothing. A number of other pages are down on the Wizards website.
