New to MtG, working on Burn/Dodge/Deflecting Deck

Deck Help forum

My husband just recently got me into MtG and I'm really liking it so far but I'm running into the same problem that most new people have, building a deck. He has cards from when he played in high school in the early 2000s so the cards that I currently have access to are older. I'm fine with finding and buying new cards but I don't want to be searching blindly for cards that I may or may not like. I'm only interested in casual play with friends. My current deck has holes and needs consistency. I've been working on a red/blue deck but I'm open to changing colors. I would say I enjoy destroying the competition quickly and effectively while also avoiding/deflecting damage they may deal me. I've posted the red and blue cards that we already own but I'm not currently using in my deck on the Sideboard and cards that I think would be fun to use on the Maybeboard. I'm really just looking for some help with which of the cards listed (and how many of each) fit with the destroy/dodge/deflect type of play as well as work well with each other. I'm sure you know of some other cards that fit this play style that aren't listed here so please post suggestions. Thank you for the help.

If you want to stop their damage you could splash green in the deck and run cards such as Fog

Or you could be really mean and splash white to run Deflecting Palms

I know I'm kind of spamming you with comments But I keep thinking of cards right after I post each comment. I'd highly recommend Madcap Skills

I was thinking of just a little white but the hubs said that 3 colors are hard to play especially when first starting out.

You could run Glacial Fortress and maybe some Battlefield Forges.

I like using MTG top 8 as a "base". It's an important tool, but don't just jump on, copy a deck list, and leave. Look at the deck and other decks in the hub, other decks in the format. Look at the other top 8 decks in the particular tournament for the one you're looking at.

Don't be scared to modify cards. The guy's list may have been metagamed for a specific tournament, or he may have chosen the wrong cards and got lucky. Do what you think is right.
