This is just my OC in a card. Here's the stats:

I used the custom card button... Why is it not showing up?

Faelix_Drakes The custom card generator is "locked" behind an enabler, as is URL linking - which would be the other solution to generate the custom card off-site and then link to it.

Try posting again - it looks like someone else had already enabled images/links for your account, so hopefully it will work now. If not, you will need to post on the bugs thread so someone with a bit more know-how can try to fix the problem.

In the meanwhile, if it is not working, feel free to post a text version (or an image from a card creator site) so we can start providing some feedback!

Tzefick - It is no trouble, always happy to help! It might be a good idea to raise the point regarding the, to use your term, “hidden knowledge” on a thread in the TappedOut forum; I just help a bit, but don’t actually have any real authority!

It still doesn't work, but here is the text version:

Faelix, Draconic Warmage

Mana Cost:

Type: Legendary Creature

Subtype: Dragon Wizard

P/T: 3/3

Rules:

Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, you may discard a card.

Whenever you discard a card, Faelix, Draconic Warmage deals up to 3 damage divided as you choose among 3 target creatures. Those creatures can not block this turn.

: Discard a card, then draw a card. Do this only as a sorcery.

That's the card.

For the novelty of it:

Seems like it is too much text for the custom card generator, so you need another tool to see it in full.

I would drop the activated ability - this card is already doing quite a bit and you are running into a space issue. The discard triggered ability is already pretty good, and you already have one built-in enabler. You probably do not need a second one, particularly one that can only be used once per turn (barring untap shenanigans).

Cutting that activated ability is particularly important because you need to make room for the creature to have Flying. As it stands, only three Dragons do not have flying--two of those are also Wurms ( Elder Land Wurm and Henge Guardian ), so the lack of flying makes sense, leaving the third, Zodiac Dragon , a clear outlier.

Is it a good card though?

So get rid of the

: Discard a card, then draw a card

?

Correct, that's the ability I would cut.

Overall, I rather like the design here. It's a fun spell-slinging card, but doesn't help you "win more" by burning your opponent's face directly. It's got a pretty terrifying ability, but it takes some work to enable, costs a bunch of mana, and still dies to lightning bolt. Seems like it would be rather fun to build around and play with.

As for the creature itself:

Considering that the instant sorcery triggered ability is not a rummage effect (discard, then draw) the user is generally burning through their hand rather quickly when utilizing this effect. Red does not typically have a lot of actual card advantage, so it could very quickly become an irrelevant triggered ability (when not supported from another color).

It does have a very neat interaction with cycling, as seen in Tectonic Reformation .

One way to improve it could be to have the triggered ability be a rummage - effectively replace the discarded card. Although this would make it a very powerful set of abilities to both filter AND control enemy creatures. To counter-balance it could be conditional draw, as in "Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, you may discard a card. If you discard a nonland card, draw a card."

And as Caerwyn said, snuffing the active ability for a better overall creature could be a good choice and would make the above change more acceptable.

Could be fun if the instant/sorcery triggered ability would grant cards in your hand Cycling . More costly than the proposed scenario but with higher potential. It would also play into the Wizard aspect of the card and is essentially similar to many of red's current filter/draw spells .

Looking at the wording of the discard/damage trigger, it would porbably be more along the lines of:

Whenever you discard a card, Faelix, Draconic Warmage deals 3 damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures. Creatures dealt damage this way can not block this turn.

This is a subtle change but there are some benefits here. You get rid of the repetition of the phrase "up to" which makes it read easier. You also get the benefit of hitting more creatures if you have a red source damage amplification effect, i.e. "if a source would deal damage, it deals that plus 1" kind of thing.

As has been mentioned, you have a lot of abilities here - I know the temptation is to give custom cards lots of abilities (becasue abilities are cool), but the text should fit on the card. And if it's a dragon, it should have flying (as was mentioned).

So, this is a cool card, we already established that. To summarize suggestions:

  • Remove the activated ability - it is superflous design for sure.
  • Change the triggered ability to be "Whenever you discard a card, Faelix deals 3 damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures. Creatures dealt damage this way can not block this turn."
  • Add flying.

Finally, a suggestion for the other ability:

  • Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, you may discard a card. If you discard a nonland card, draw a card.

I think this is fair ability, but I would do one or more of the following in addition:

  • Give the creature haste in addition to flying.
  • Bump it to a 4/4 dragon for 6 CMC.

Also, I already want to add this card to my Nekusar, the Mindrazer deck.

I can't add flying, as the OC himself lost his wings.

It's kinda a storyline thing.

Feel free to add it to any deck if you can!

Yes. It says: "Exile Target opponent."

I realize how crazy that is, but it's a Moderator Card. It needs to be able to have a Banhammer ability.
