Going about building a RE themed deck

*Warning: this is a bit of a mess since I'm posting this while I'm quite tired, but I'm not sure how else to put this
So earlier today I had the idea to build a Resident Evil themed deck, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I know I want to include plenty of zombies, but I'm not sure how many of the protagonists I want to include, or if I want to include any artifacts or enchantments to give it some environmental flavor. Any ideas?
Black also has a lot of disease/plague effects, so along with Zombies you're solid.
Adding Blue opens you up to Laboratory style cards like Arcane Laboratory, Laboratory Maniac and Laboratory Brute.
Blue/Black gives you a few good commander options too, the best to my mind being Gisa and Geralf -- You can cast a zombie from the grave each of your turns and you could say they're like The Ashford Twins (minus the weirdness and plus the good-natured antagonism). Grimgrin, Corpse-Born is also a good card just in the deck, a big Tyrant style zombie albeit with a setback.
You could add mutate creatures in like Dirge Bat and Insatiable Hemophage but it's a really shallow pool and mechanic, you're better off focusing on zombie synergies.
But, for some real fun, look to equipment with Living Weapon like Batterskull, Lashwrithe, Scytheclaw and Skinwing -- Equipments that have that bioweapon vibe on top of creating germ tokens to act as your T/G Virus!
Hope this gives you some ideas!

I think Varina, Lich Queen
could fit the bill. You get synergy with the blue/black zombies, plus white could give you a few protagonists via cards like Gideon and Gerrad.

Actually, you should look at MtGGoldfish's most recent commander night: Crim broght an RE-themed deck to the table.

I saw Crim's list, and while it seems like a blast to play it focuses more on the science-lab/zombies/Umbrella part, and it doesn't have protagonists. Thanks for the ideas Snake_Oil & RiotRunner789. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun trying to put together some pile of jank that fits the theme and isn't a copy of Crim's list.

I have limited experience with the RE franchise (I only played the first one a bit) but I FULLY endorse your endeavor. This sounds like a lot of fun!!

There are enough games in the franchise that I'm going to have to pick one game to build around per deck. I've narrowed it down to building around either the first or the third, though a mix of both might be conceivable. It really depends on how much I feel like giving my brain a workout

Resident evil did have a variety of guns and other tools you could use. You could try a black zombie equip deck.
Adding white would help with any equipment if you go that route.
Also, I hate saying this, but infect would thematically fit. Though, less fitting, wither would also be great or dropping a lot of -1 counters. Basically, RE and phyrexians overlap quite a bit.
