Monoblue commander decision

Commander Deck Help forum

Hey everyone, I've been wanting to make a mono colored commander for some time as play mostly tri-color decks atm. I've settled on Blue as the color and have narrowed the decision down to Thada Adel, Acquisitor or Azami, Lady of Scrolls.

I am not looking to make a super competitive deck but one that will be really fun and can win a decent number of casual and/or semi-competitive games.

I would greatly appreciate input/advice on which direction to go from players who have piloted these commanders. Which was the most fun and why? For Thada adel, aquisitor I was thinking of a good stuff deck with a "steal" theme using her ability to steal mana rocks ramp into fatties. I really like her psuedo unblockability and I also enjoy stealing stuff.

For Azami, Lady of Scrolls the obvious choice if to play value wizards and capitalize on card advantage. I have several wizards with etb triggers that I very much enjoy playing so I was thinking of having a bounce/flicker theme to abuse these affects.

I appreciate you taking you time to read this! Any advice is welcome.

Go with Thada Adel, Acquisitor. It will likely draw less groans of agony at the mere sight of her. Run with 3-5 ways to make her unblockable (ie, turn lands into islands, Whispersilk Cloak, etc), add in whatever flavor of 'artifacts matter' you enjoy, oh, and include some sort of wincon. Beyond that, she's a bit more flexible and interesting. You could even include some tribal elements, either merfolk or rogue, out of the gate. And, hey, I actually have a decklist of my own already up as an example.

I usually play one Mono blue deck and the most fun deck I had (at least for casual games) featured Arcanis the Omnipotent. Thada Adel is a cool commander because it does not draw so much hate. With Azami everyone is going to expect a win out of nothing with mind over matter. You can really try to make Thada Adel unblockable and attack every turn and win via commander damage.

personally I have a Thada deck that I've been using for the last couple months. The nice thing about a stealing stuff based Thada deck, is that she will essentially scale with your opponents. Psychogenic Probe and Quicksilver Fountain can be pretty fun. Also Stealing Sol Rings and other mana rocks makes it so you can play some pretty cool eldrazi and artifact creatures way sooner.

Your Sol (Ring) is Mine! is my Thada Adel, Acquisitor deck. It has a pretty good win percentage and it's fun to play. Aggro with the commander into huge fatties ramped into via other people's mana rocks is always fun. My vote is for Thada, but if control is your thing somebody like Arcanis or Azami might be better.

Thanks everyone, I really do appreciate the feedback. I was originally leaning towards Thada actually as I believe she fits my play style a bit more (and I already own more of the cards to build around her). I reviewed both @cklise and @MindAblaze's decks and gleaned some knowledge. Thanks again, headed to Lgs now to look Into attaining some cards =).
