Breya vs. Silas Renn/Akiri

Commander Deck Help forum

I'm looking to build a more artifact based commander deck and am having a hard time choosing my commander. I am torn between Breya, Etherium Shaper or partnering Silas Renn, Seeker Adept & Akiri, Line-Slinger. What do the masses recommend? Also, any card suggestions is helpful...

Oh easy, Breya no contest. She has so much utility by herself that it is insane. The others you could run in the 99 but I have to say go with Breya. As for card suggestions I would first have to recommend the papa of all artifact decks Blightsteel Colossus as for the others of which there are numerous I will say go check out https://edhrec.com (Note I tried hyperlinking several times but for some reason it would not work.) It shows the most popular cards based by percentages and even gives you an avg deck.

I play Silas Renn and Bruse Tarl as aggro Stax. It's pretty insane to be able to cast stuff from your graveyard, especially if you have a LED available. I've thought about using Breya for a combo deck but I like the aggro/control plan more. It's quite expensive to make that work though, only recommend if you already have a big card pool

Thanks for the input guys, I am ultimately thinking Breya, as well, but like the idea of partners. I know Blightsteel Colossus is highly recommended, but he is also a dick card to play in commander; no one likes infect...

Breya is great I have had several different builds of her she is awesome with tokens for sac fodder which artifacts can produce servos and thopters like nuts. There are tons of combos that work well with her too many of which I did by accident. If you like infinite Ashnod's Altar is a must, if you need to avoid infinite for some reason then I wouldn't run it. Simply by not using it you should avoid most infinite combos.

The other two I haven't played but if you are looking to be less comboy and more aggro/equipment then I'd still bee tempted to do breya but I'd at least give them a try.

Typically (as mentioned by others) the two paths are actually two completely different deck builds. Breya, Etherium Sculptor is typically used as a combo piece awhere the deck focuses around using breya as an outlet with infinite mana/some sort of recusion loop.

Silas Renn, Seeker Adept & Akiri, Line-Slinger form more of a stax theme where you lock the board down and use Akiri to voltron each opponent out. Silas Renn provides colour identity as well as a way to recur your stax pieces.

It just depends on what you prefer to play.
