Looking For Slummin' Else —Nov. 26, 2020

Ogre Slumlord is one of those cards that would help further my board state by creating more tokens and granting my rats deathtouch, but also detracts from the 5mana slot of casting Marrow-Gnawer... alas, if only this rat-lord was actually a rat. I do love comboing it with other pieces such as Grave Pact and Eldrazi Monument. I'm not looking for early turn wins, just fun interactions. :)

The day has come where I've finally decided to take Ogre Slumlord out of the deck. Cheers to a good run! Also subbed out is Gnat Miser, may you rest your little buggy laurels.

Ogre was unfortunately too mana heavy for the curve, and I need the tribal synergy for Pack Rat more than the deathtouch abilities. Luckily Marrow-Gnawer already fills the role of mass rat-token enabler that's more congruent with the sacrifice theme that this deck is trying to go for anyway.

I needed better effects that would go wide as having card advantage was hard in a multiplayer game (3-6 people), and even going one-for-one with removal would set me back from playing the spells I wanted. I've gone back to adding a few Call to the Netherworld and Burglar Rat to go for a bit of discard recursion, while hopefully discarding CttN to Pack Rat at the same time.
