Energy Package —Sept. 27, 2017

Moved some things around. Tried to smooth out the mana. Added a small energy package.

Before i go into making any changes i have one main question. Have you tried playing with regisaur alpha over glorybringer yet. so far in my jund testing ive been playing him a lot more than glorybringer due to board precence and i think he's a easier curve with being r/g. he also allows ripjaws to come out with haste and also facilitating side boarding Carnage Tyrant on curve (personally i'u believe carnage tyrant may be too good not to main board in the new meta, testing wise he is a legit hassle to get rid of). In this fact i also belive that if dino's get popular glorybringer will hit less seeing as the best dino' have more than 5 toughness. But i would like to know your thoughts on it. (also as good as people think it is i still dont think shapers sancuary belongs in main board but thats me)

So I haven't tested Regisaur yet. I do like him. It's just hard to argue with a 4/4 flyer with haste. Something I'll definitely try out. I like Tyrant and it took a lot for me to sideboard him. Basically it came down to lowering the curve, in order to try and fit everything else in. As far as Sanctuary is concerned, Iv liked it so far in testing, however I don't love it and would be open to suggestions on what to replace it with.

The mana looks really rough here, needing on 1 for Commune with Dinosaurs or Shaper's Sanctuary, on 2 for Gifted Aetherborn and Walk the Plank, and for Chandra, Torch of Defiance on 4. Any problems so far, any way to fix it like Treasure Map?

As far as the mana is concerned, I agree, it is not ideal. Which is why I was testing out Freebooter. Here are a couple things Iv learned. Freebooter is not good. Commune and Ranging definitely help smooth out the mana. I tried out Renegade Map, it was slow and a dead draw late game. After some consideration I went with Commune as my fixing source, since it typically will pull at least something that works and it's not a completely dead draw late game.

I believe that its gonna depend on what speed your going for when it comes to playing glorybringer and gifted ether born. Getting while also needing a total of 5 and 4 will get you into tricky situations.(just the fact that you almost want green early and playing 4 forest lower the chances of aetherborn coming out on turn 2). I feel that if your going for the low curve high dmg route with glorybringer then you might wanna rethink aetherborn. hes more of a tempo card into which he's gonna die to removal or mainly block as i don't see to many creatures blocking him with deathtouch. Now if you wanna go more tempo i still recommend regisaur alpha as in its alot easier on mana, 2 bodies, and you also have to think he gives you more targets for commune overall. it makes your double colors go down and things easier to play. its not totally impossible to have all your colors, but you gotta remember that majority of the duel lands jund has is with red in it.

Old news, but double (mono) colored spells aren't going to work with your mana base easily. I'd drop maybe Gifted Aetherborn and use Kitesail Freebooter? Fixes the double source issue, has evasion and some form of protection/disruption. Card seems dece in tempo/midrange. (I realize its not an amazing alterative)

So yes I think Jund is in great position. It has a lot of answers and can be built a few different ways, aggro, midrange, or even a more control/hand distribution build. As I mentioned earlier, I agree it's very mana intensive. I tried Freebooter, and it was just.... meh. In a more control/hand disruption build I think he would be great. Just not in what I was running. To be honest Iv switched to a Jund Dino Midrange build and it has proven way more consistent. the reason for walking ballista is you can ping your own creature for land and card draw
