Aether Vial vs Collected Company —June 19, 2018

Hey, we are mostly playing 3 cc cards and are in green. Why are we not playing Collected Company?

Good question. I built this deck to be somewhat of a control deck based around Mystic Snake. I wanted a deck that could put tempo power on the field while disrupting the opponents plan as much as possible. Collected Company is great for getting 2 creatures at instant speed on the field, but the question is what creatures you intend to target. Almost all of our creatures have supporting effects that either draw us cards, control the board or control the stack. If we cast this spell there is a high chance we can hit Reflector Mage or Spell Queller with nothing on the field or stack thus we just get 2/3s... If we could reliably hit creatures like Blade Splicer then we would be in a much better position but its to unreliable.

Why Aether Vial? First is that it allows us to cheat mana costs to put creatures in the field at instant speed. That means we can affect the board when we want. Not only that we have alot of flash creatures who act as spells. So the idea is to place creatures on board via Aether Vial and have mana to back those creatures up with controlling effects. Lastly we can do this all on our opponents end step or attack step to put pressure on our opponents to react to us by wasting their turn and mana allowing us free reign to do stuff on our turn.

Thoughts?
