Okay, So I'd like to see a common-rarity limited playable, but not standard playable removal spell
Examples in M21:
Finishing Blow, Read the Tides, Legion's Judgment, Turn to Slag, Silent Dart
Standard playable commons: Shock, Return to Nature, Scorching Dragonfire
Frost Breath and Grasp of Darkness are edge cases.

Yes, all equipment attached to the creature is destroyed even if the 5 damage is lethal. Technically damage doesn't destroy a creature. Creatures are destroyed as a state-based action for having lethal damage marked on them, and SBA are not checked until after the spell completely resolves marking 5 damage on the creature and destroying attached equipment.
