Tainted Sigil and a bit of insanity
Asked by Red_alga 13 years ago
Hi!
My question is mostly about Tainted Sigil . Will it work if life is lost by players AFTER I sacrifice it but BEFORE the turn ends?
I'll illustrate
I have Sanguine Bond , Boon Reflection and Tainted Sigil on the battlefield.
My Child of Night with Spirit Link attached to her hits an opponent.
Then I sacrifice Tainted Sigil .
What happens? As I see it -
When Child of Night hits she makes 2 damage to an opponent and I gain 2 life because of her lifelink.
Spirit Link gives me 2 more life. So I gain 4
Boon Reflection doubles it and I have 8 life instead of 4.
Sanguine Bond makes my opponent loose 8 life (so - he looses 10 life total).
Tainted Sigil gives me 10 life.
Boon Reflection turnes it into 20
Sanguine Bond makes an opponent loose 20 life...
The question is - will Tainted Sigil keep on working (as far as the turn is not over)and give a recursion? And am I right about how Sanguine Bond and Boon Reflection work together?

Tainted Sigil only works once, and it only works on the damage that happens before its ability resolves.
As for how you're playing out the Sanguine Bond/Boon Reflection, you're skipping a bunch of steps and technically playing it wrong, though you are arriving to the correct numbers. First, Boon Reflection doubles lifegain the moment you gain the life, it's not a trigger and it doesn't wait for lifegain to be bundled up. Here's the proper sequence of events:
