Seance token copies
Asked by harrydemon117 13 years ago
Seance allows me to exile a creature from my graveyard and create a token that's a copy of said card. If I were to copy said token (i.e. Phantasmal Image , Phyrexian Metamorph , Cackling Counterpart ), will the copy of that token get exiled too?
...or is it just the effect of seance itself that exiles the first token?

A copy effect copies everything written on the original, plus any characteristics from copy effects the original is currently subject to. The copy you make of the Seance token will be a copy of the original and also have the Spirit creature type, but the "exile it" part of Seance 's effect isn't a copiable value. Your non-Seance copy won't be exiled at the end of the turn.

So if I bring back Essence of the Wild during my upkeep, and then use Lingering Souls the two tokens copy Essence of the Wild and are not exiled?
This might make for a use for Seance FINALLY!!!

That's correct. Seance is a very subtle and complicated card, and there are a lot of things the card doesn't say, but its quirks give it a very unique role if you build the right deck for it (hell yeah, Mulldrifter and friends).

Seance
In short, no. Only the tokens that are created by Seance are affected by its requirements.
The image is a completely seperate object and only copies the information off of the card it copies, not any other affects pertaining to it.
If Seance said,
'That token gains "Exile this creature at the beginning of your End Step"'
we'd have a different situation. :)
