Question about Silence/stacking/strategy
Asked by Not_Sure 9 years ago
It's the beginning of the opponents turn, I cast Silence. It goes to stack. What options does the opponent have in terms of making a move before resolution (outside of Counterspelling)? I'm guessing stack spells of any type to the ceiling, being the cursory tactic the opponent chose to employ. If I am correct with my assumption, any examples of other methods of riposte would be appreciated.

Outside of Counterspelling it, there's not much an opponent can do to counteract it or get around its ability once resolved. Aside from perhaps giving his things flash with Prophet of Kruphix, Vedalken Orrery, Leyline of Anticipation or Alchemist's Refuge, etc... and cast his whole turn right then and there, and just wait to pass the turn afterward.

While Silence is on the stack, your opponent can, in response, cast any legal spell at instant speed, or activate any abilities they legally can.
