Muldrotha and Deadeye

Asked by zigkid3 6 years ago

If you flicker Muldrotha, the Gravetide with Deadeye Navigator would the flicker allow you to play more permanents of the same type during your turn?

Alternatively, if you sac muldrotha and reanimate it, would that also allow you to use her ability for the same permanent type again?

Yes, that would work in either case. The new instance of Muldrotha would give you a new set of permissions for playing cards from the graveyard. Usually I would link to the card's entry on Gatherer to show the existing rulings notes, but right now I'm behind a firewall that's interfering with accessing the page. You'll be able to find more detail there.

Note that if there's a type you didn't use the old Muldrotha's permission for, you can't use both that one and the new permission. The old one is just gone.

4/27/2018 If you play a card from your graveyard and then have a new Muldrotha come under your control in the same turn, you may play another card of that type from your graveyard that turn.

Would the same principle apply to flickering The Gitrog Monster? in order to play more than 2 lands per turn?

Does this also work with Azusa, Lost but Seeking? For example, I have Azusa paired with Deadeye Navigator and 10 islands in my hand. I play two islands for my additional two, and then flicker her with Deadeye. Do I get to play two more islands, flicker again, and then play two more islands, etc?

kpres Pretty sure Azusa is a static effect giving you a total of 2 extra lands for the turn, not just for being put into play. If you were able to have multiple copies of azusa in play at the same time you could play additional lands but thats an exception of course.

Both Muldrotha and Azusa have static effects, so why wouldn't they both stack? Can I play one land from the grave and one land from my hand with Muldrotha? I'm confused by this card.

With azusa in play you can play 3 lands for the turn. If you want, one of those lands can be from muldrotha and the other 2 from hand. Or all 3 could come from hand if you wanted.
