Mana Cost and Tokens

Hey everyone me and my friend were playing commander earlier today and he was using Birthing Pod with some of his tokens. My question is if he plays a Eternal Witness and makes a token of it is the tokens CMC 3 because i remeber that tokens had a CMC of 0 which was why they would die so fast with an ability like Steel Hellkite has because you would pay 0. Does this mean if you make a token of anything with a CMC the token has that same CMC or is it just 0??

If you make a token copy of something the token has the same mana cost (and therefore CMC) as that object because mana cost is a copyable characteristic. The tokens that have CMC=0 are the ones made by a spell or ability that makes non-copy tokens such as Raise the Alarm or Advent of the Wurm
