Does Emrakul's protection from colored spells protect it from colored permanents?

It says on Emrakul, the aeons torn that it has protection from colored spells. From my knowledge of this game, spells are cards that aren't on the battlefield, hand, graveyard, or exile.

I just wanted to make sure whether it gives protection from colored permanents also.

Spells are all cards other than lands practically. So, technically emrakul has protection from coloured permanents also.

Hope That Helps.

Emrakul, the Aeons Torn .

Incorrect. A "spell," to be very technical, as is necessary, is a card that is on the stack (CR 111.1), waiting to resolve. Emrakul DOES NOT have protection from colored permanents, and Oblivion Ring , for instance, will work just fine on him.

WaFfLeZ10, that's incorrect.

From the Oracle rulings on the card:

6/15/2010 Emrakul may be affected by colored spells that don't target it or deal damage to it, including those that cause it to become blocked. Abilities of colored permanents (such as Journey to Nowhere) may target it. Auras may be moved onto it by abilities or by colored spells that don't target it (such as Aura Graft).

Emphasis mine.

Also, from the comprehensive rules:

110.1 A permanent is a card or token on the battlefield. [rest omitted for irrelevance here]

111.1 A spell is a card on the stack. [rest omitted for irrelevance here]

Emmy can be hit by colored permanents such as Oblivion Ring , Journey to Nowhere or Nekrataal . He just can't be hit by spells like Murder or Lightning Bolt .
