if a creature enter the field as a 0/0, does that means it dies.( young wolf + falkenrath noble+ heartless summoning

Yes, it would die. A creature with 0 toughness cannot exist on the battlefield and is placed in its owner's graveyard as a result.

Yes. A creature is considered "dying" when it goes from the battlefield to the graveyard. It can be achieved by inflicting lethal damages, by reducing it's toughness to 0, by sacrificing it or by an ability or spell that says "destroy"

...Which, due to game rules, is considered dying.

A creature is said to "die" if it moves, for any reason, from the battlefield to the graveyard, with no stops in between.

In the case of Young Wolf , when its undying triggers it will reenter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter and survive Heartless Summoning 's effect.

If a creature has 0 or less than 0 toughness at any point while it's on the battlefield, it is placed into its owner's graveyard the next time state-based actions are checked.

This is why cards like Grasp of Darkness /Dismember were/are so good. It essentially kills anything with 5 or less toughness instantly.

I think they're asking "would the +1/+1 counter be of significance if Heartless Summoning is in place at the time the undying creature would come back..where heartless would normally kill it off, unless the counter counts first?

@shifterfox: The creature would return as a 0/0, Undying would resolve, putting its +1/+1 counter on, then state-based actions are checked. At that point, the creature's toughness is greater than zero, therefore it does not die. The same goes for living weapons like Flayer Husk and Batterskull .

@NDRue

To be completely technical, Young Wolf would return to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it, meaning it never exists on the battlefield without the counter.

It enters the battlefield as a 0/0 with a +1/+1 counter, then state-based actions are checked. Your wording makes it seem like it enters as a 0/0 and then has the counter placed on it. It's more fluid than that.

@mafteechr: True, my bad in wording it inappropriately.

No worries, concept was solid. I'm just a stickler for precision.
