Combo Elves question!
Asked by facecatHE1 11 years ago
I'm new to MTG so i need to clarify this.
Imagine this scenario:
battlefield: 2x Elvish Archdruid , Heritage Druid , Imperius perfect and Intruder Alarm
I tap imperius perfect to create a token then i tap all other 3 elfs to generate 3 green mana. Then i play an elf from may hand and untap every elf on the battlefield.
Q: i can tap imperius perfect again this turn to generate another token? And the same goes for tapping Elvish Archdruid s to generate more mana.
Thanks

Yes, this works the way you want it to.
You can get an infinite combo with Intruder Alarm , Imperious Perfect , and a mana-tapping elf. The alarm's triggered ability will untap the perfect and the mana dork, and allow you to make another elf token, which will trigger the alarm again.

Yes, you're not limited to how many times a permanent can be tapped a turn, if you can untap it, like you can here. It does lead to a lot of mana if you can keep drawing cards with say Beck / Call or the other spell that allows you to draw for each creature you cast. Can't remember the name.

Yes, you would be able to do that. Unless an ability says you can only use it once per turn, you can do it as many times as you want.

Yes. If a permanent is untapped (and not a creature suffering from summoning sickness), regardless of whether it has been tapped at some other point this turn, you may tap them as part of an activated ability.

Adding to what Dracoson said...tapping untapped elves for Heritage Druid 's ability does not care if those elves having summoning sickness since they aren't tapping for their own ability.

Dracoson, this specific way of doing it, doesn't matter about summoning sickness, with Heritage Druid . The elves tapped aren't using their abilities. Though tapping Elvish Archdruid and Imperious Perfect for their abilities summoning sickness does matter. FTR, this works great with Nettle Sentinel also.

gufymike, correct, but he was specifically asking about the abilities of Imperious Perfect and Elvish Archdruid , where it does apply.

Dracoson but he also mentioned they were already on the field.

gufymike aside from the Imperious Perfect (as it was stated that it had already been tapped this turn for its ability), it only says that they were on the battlefield at the time of the scenario. They would be there if they had already been summoned this turn as well. I mentioned summoning sickness as it was not specifically precluded, and would be the only reason (at least the only one relevant, as there are things such as Arrest ) that would prevent a creature using that type of ability.
