Can you counter a mana ability of a creature?

Say my opponent has Thassa, God of the Sea on the board and uses her mana ability, could i use Dissolve on said ability to counter his creatures becoming unblockable?
No. Since it is an activated ability, you would need to use a spell such as Stifle or Bind , or a creature such as Linvala, Keeper of Silence or Azorius Guildmage .

A mana ability is NOT an ability that costs mana.
A mana ability is an ability that doesn't have a target, isn't a loyalty ability, and adds mana to a player's mana pool when it resolves. Mana abilities don't use the stack and can't be responded to.
Also, a spell is NEVER an ability. Spells and abilities are two completely separate kinds of objects, and effects that affect one of them don't affect the other unless the effect also mentions the other.

"mana abilities" means abilities that produce mana, like that of Llanowar Elves
but for activated abilities, like those of thassa, you have to use something like Stifle . spell counters like Dissolve don't work
