Bringer of the Black Dawn

Can you play Bringer of the Black Dawn in a Mono black EDH deck even though he has a Alternet way to pay for him

I believe that because Bringer of the Black Dawn has those other mana symbols in it's text even as its an alt summon condition, he couldn't be ud, similar as a Talisman of Dominance couldn't be used.

colour ID in EDH now includes any and all symbols on the cards rules or mana cost making Memnarch a blue EDH general essentially or Rhys the Exiled black/green etc etc. sadly this makes us miss out on the good old bringers but I think such an expensive mono colour cast cost your mates my make an acception for you to include him in your EDH deck as he isnt exactly harsh because there are much better and cheaper things now like Bloodgift Demon for example

Maiden77 is right, for EDH rules a card gains it color identity from all mana symbols printed on the card.

If I recall correctly though, if a card generated mana of a different color it could be used. It'd just generate colorless instead. Am I wrong here? :<

It depends. If the card has a mana symbol printed on it that doesn't match your Commander's color identity, then it can't be in the deck, but it's okay if it doesn't use a mana symbol. For example, let's say you have Dakkon Blackblade as a Commander. You can't have Crystal Quarry in your deck, because it has red and green mana symbols printed on it, but you can have City of Brass in your deck, because it doesn't use mana symbols to describe its effect. When you activate it, you're allowed to choose red or green, but like you said, the rules make it add colorless instead.
