Assault strobe

Say im about to sacrifice a creature can i Assault Strobe the sacrificed creature to deal double the damage to a player if that creature has an ability?

So, you're doing something like sacrificing (goes to Gatherer right quick) Acidic Sliver to deal 2 damage to a player, then casting Assault Strobe on it to deal 4 instead?

No, this doesn't work for two reasons.

One, the sacrifice is part of a cost, so it can't be responded to. It also means that by the time you COULD cast Assault Strobe on the sacrificed creature, it's no longer on the battlefield.

Two, double strike only affects combat damage. It doesn't make any kind of damage suddenly hit twice. Those kind of damage doublers are worded like Furnace of Rath .

Also, third note: Assault Strobe is a sorcery, not an instant, so unless you have Leyline of Anticipation , Vedalken Orrery , Hypersonic Dragon or something similar, you couldn't cast it in response to ANYTHING.

Perfectly answered but not what I wanted to hear i was gonna do a deck based off of Fling and Assault Strobe could've helped a lot Fling + Worldspine Wurm lol or others
