Another Words of wind interaction

Asked by Monomanamaniac 3 years ago

Ok, so in this instance I have Words of Wind, Alhammarret's Archive, Sol Ring, Thought Vessel, Semblance Anvil, and Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain all on the battlefield (it's a lot I know but it sets up an interesting situation, and just know that any x card besides words of wind can be swapped with other cards that do the same thing). So in this case i cast the thought vessel, then jhoira's ability goes on the stack, then alhammarret's archive's ability goes on the stack, then I tap sol ring to pay 1 with words of wind. Words of wind's ability goes on the stack and I return the sol ring to my hand and draw the second card from jhoira and archive's combined 2. Are all of those actions legal actions? Am I allowed to wait until alhammarret's archive's ability modifies jhoira's ability before activating words of wind? Can I activate words of wind first, then cast the artifact and still have alhammarret's archive's ability modify that draw and let me draw a card and return a permanent

What you want to do will work.

If more than one replacement effect could modify how an event affects a player or object, the affected player or controller of the affected object (here, you're the affected player) decides which one to apply. In your example both Alhammeret's Archive and Words of Wind could modify the card draw from Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain (you need to activate Words before Jhoira's ability starts to resolve). To get what you want, you would apply the Archive first, which then creates a modified event that Words can still apply to, so then you apply Words to the first draw.

Thank you. that means this is an infinite combo to draw my entire deck. It's a convoluted combo, but besides words of wind reach other part has several replacements
