Did the woman in the picture find a dead rat in the field... and now they think it's a 'clue'?

DrFunk27 says... #3

Vectoro Emrakool. Nahiri will summon Emrakool. I can't wait!

March 17, 2016 2:30 p.m.

Needs some flavor text: "Yup. It's a rat."

I wonder if 's gonna get anything else supporting this theme. We've mostly seen Investigate in , haven't we? And I'm always up for stuff that gives you draw-related bonuses for doing combat damage.

WolfDice66 says... #5

Is that a moon silver anvil or silver infused lith in Sorin's background art? Is that representative of Nahiri? What is she using it as/for?

March 17, 2016 2:34 p.m.

Rayenous says... #6

The way it's worded, you can only investigate once per attack (technically twice, if you have a creature with double strike)... not once per creature.

March 17, 2016 2:35 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #7

WolfDice66 - That's the ruined Helvault in the background of Sorin's art.

Silverfur Partisan

Creature - Wolf Warrior

Trample

Whenever a Wolf or Werewolf you control becomes the target of an instant or sorcery spell, put a 2/2 green Wolf creature token onto the battlefield.

Silverfurs are the last remaining wolfir.

I'm loving this subset of creatures that support other creatures of the same type. Especially when it's surprising abilities like Silverfur has. Always cool.

DrFunk27: Nahiri's a lithomancer. She's gonna summon something bound by STONE. There's really only one choice:enter image description here

Trial of Evidence... might play well with Tezzeret the Seeker in a control deck.

March 17, 2016 2:43 p.m.

TMBRLZ says... #14

I don't think that's literal. It's symbolic of his trail of clues leading to the discovery.

My question is... WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?!?

Wait no. Nevermind.

March 17, 2016 2:45 p.m.

Symbolism don't work in a setting with vampires, things in the ice, and skitter-lanterns. I fully expect an OED planeswalker this set now.

I also demand a Skitter-Lantern card that pairs well with Daring Sleuth.

Could be the clue they found turned into food, which is why you gain 2 life.

Im pretty excited for Rattlechains. I think it's going to be good. Anyone else onboard with this guy?

2/1, flying, flash

Comes into gives target spirit hexproof Til end of turn.

You may play spirit creatures as though they had flash.

Turn a Clue token into a bomb with Pia and Kiran Nalaar... Daring Sleuth still transforms.

March 17, 2016 2:56 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #23

Ever notice that a ton of the cards transform from a 2/1 into a 3/2?

March 17, 2016 2:57 p.m.

Rayenous says... #24

I think Thing in the Ice is intended to be 'Frozen Food' for the being that's being summoned/awoken.

I also think there is still a distinct possibility of it being Marit Lage they are summoning/awakening.

March 17, 2016 3:01 p.m.

Terrvex says... #25

Why haven't we seen a rare dual land cycle for this set yet?

March 17, 2016 3:02 p.m.

Rayenous - good call! Pia and Kiran are already strong, but they could do some really fun things with Investigate.

capriom85: I love Rattlechains, but I'm waiting to see what other spirits we get. It's a rad card, though.

March 17, 2016 3:02 p.m.

It was a relentless rat though, so that makes it important.

GearNoir says... #28

Looks like a doll to me. Return of Stuffy Doll!

March 17, 2016 3:22 p.m.

TMBRLZ says... #29

Thing in the Ice can't be Marit Lage because it turns into a giant ass Kraken...

March 17, 2016 3:28 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #30

Daring Sleuth is the most Bloodborne card I've seen so far.

March 17, 2016 3:33 p.m.

Rayenous says... #31

Neglected Heirloom and Daring Sleuth are interesting...

These, I think, are the first Transform cards that require you to do/have something that you may not normally have, and the card itself doesn't provide.

Delver of Secrets  Flip - most decks will have Instant/Sorcery.
Elusive Tormentor - you can easily have cards to discard.
Most Werewolves - you can always choose not to play a spell.
Avacyn Missionaries - perhaps a little more specific, but there's always equipment.
Westvale Abbey - Only need creatures, and it can even produce creatures.

But:
Negelected Heirloom - You must be playing with Transform creatures.
Daring Thief - You must be playing with cards that produce clue tokens.

@Terrvex a while back in the thread someone was looking at the available land slots left and there were only 5 or 6 potential slots. 2 more have been spoiled since then so we might not be seeing any this set beyond the uncommons spoiled earlier:(

March 17, 2016 3:35 p.m.

Ryjo says... #33

jchudz, I think that there were 5 or 6 slots in the presumed range, but there may have been a couple lands fight above that range.

March 17, 2016 3:38 p.m.

Rayenous says... #34

There are still 4 slots available in slots after 'Drownyard Temple' that will be land, and up to 5 slots between 'Tamiyo's Journal' and 'Drownyard Temple' that could be either Land or Artifact.

March 17, 2016 3:42 p.m. Edited.

Terrvex says... #35

Noo we need to get a rare land cycle... I was really hoping for filters, but as long as we get something.

March 17, 2016 3:45 p.m.

Lame_Duck says... #36

Unless they are also revealing that Marit Lage actually is an Eldrazi, I very much doubt she'll be returning. She shares too many design elements with the Eldrazi and I can't imagine Wizards wants to confuse things by having something that looks and behaves like an Eldrazi but isn't one.

March 17, 2016 3:47 p.m. Edited.

JohnnyBaggins says... #37

A big block like this one no having a dual cycle seems extremely unlikely.

March 17, 2016 3:52 p.m.

Egann says... #39

Oh, I love that daring sleuth card. Very lovecraftian/ bloodborne-esque card, and a perfect blue card for Innistrad. The sheer number of investigate cards is starting to worry me with how the draft will feel, though.

March 17, 2016 4:11 p.m.

TMBRLZ says... #40

So what you're saying is you're going to feel...

on how to draft SOI?

With 13 mythics spoiled, is Sorin the last mythic to be spoiled in this set?

March 17, 2016 4:40 p.m.

I think larger sets usually bring 15 mythics.

Briarbridge patrol is... Interesting

March 17, 2016 4:44 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #46

Briarbridge Patrol

Creature- Human Warrior -- Uncommon

Whenever Briarbridge Patrol deals damage to one or more creatures, investigate. (Put a colorless Clue artifact token onto the battlefield with "2, Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.")

At the beginning of each end step, if you sacrificed three or more Clues this turn, you may put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield.

3/3

Image

Interesting that it rewards you for spending your turn cracking Clues and drawing cards.

March 17, 2016 4:49 p.m.

TMBRLZ says... #47

So call me a pessimist, but it feels like this time around Wizards is trying to shove their really crappy mechanics onto us.

They make some bad mechanics every set. Or at least mechanics that people perceive as useless, and Clues was looking that way from the get go...

But it looks as if they're trying to make it an integral part of this set... which is kind of upsetting.

March 17, 2016 4:51 p.m.

Spootyone says... #48

Huh....they gave me a reason to try to build investigate into a theme. Weird. I swore that couldn't happen outside of red. (since they're artifacts)

I guess uh...I guess I'll try building GW Investighate bears.

March 17, 2016 4:57 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #49

TMBRLZ - Well, the theme of the set is to "Unravel the Madness" and you do that by Investigating. It's pretty on the nose if you ask me.

Whether or not Investigate is a "bad" mechanic, we'll have to wait and see.

March 17, 2016 5 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #50

From what i see, ug/gw investigate are looking like very solid limited archetypes
