Creating a Weatherlight from Lazotep?

Lore forum

Okay, so I was just curious as to the extent of use Lazotep could allow in planar travel.

Since a coating of Lazotep allowed the Dreadhorde to survive the trip from Amonkhet to Ravnica with their gooey organic insides intact, we know that Lazotep shields organic matter from the Blind Eternities.

Therefore, isn't it also possible that someone could create a ship out of Lazotep and use it to transport people across planes?

If this has been answered, please provide a link to the answer.

Well the BEST possible story would be for the Flagship Predator's Phyrexian engine/creature to inhabit a new Lazotep shell

There is no problem with this, but it's more so the technology that is available and its pertinence to the Weatherlight.

The Mending caused an alteration in the methodology used to travel between planes, hence Phyrexian ambulators no longer functioned properly. The Weatherlight as such lost its ability to travel between worlds.

A lazotep skyship is feasible, but it would require the same technology as Rashmi's planar bridge to operate.

Azeworai I assumed a change in tech would be required.

I just said Weatherlight in the title to best describe the vessel in mind, since its the most renown planar ship.

Can you imagine it though? A lazotep-plated ship using a Planar Bridge to transport across planes? It'd be awesome!

Ah. Pardon my misconception.

Yes, I think that would be quite awesome! :)

But who would utilize such an otherworldly power?

I thought the plannar bridge could only transport in-organic or dead matter and the reason that the dreadhorde could come through was because it was dead not because it was covered in lazotope.

SP3CTR3_chelts organic material (living or dead) cannot move through the blind eternities unless it has a spark. The lazotep protects the organic material from being disintegrated upon travel.

Angrath with a Lazotep ship and an undead crew (leftover eternals with free will?). I suppose that Phyrexian engine core was biomechanical? & not just a machine.

Or some other walker pirate.... I just want to pirate my way across the planes & drink & fight around the blind eternities

Snap157 thanks for the clarification :)

mtg.gamepedia entry on planar bridge is wrong then (I checked their source and they are miss quoting it)

This is a cool idea. I had had a similar idea to build a box or container for moving people. It might not be able to have windows and still work.

As for our chances of seeing such a thing in action I won't get my hopes up. I believe Saheeli has already convinced Rashmi to never replicate the planar bridge tech, so Tezzeret is currently the only one who possesses a planar bridge, but Ob Nixilis, Dack, Karn, and Samut broke his implant. There is also the bit where part of the purpose of the mending was to make travelling between planes a planeswalker only thing.

Not sure if this has been brought up yet but weight could be an issue. Lazotep could be too heavy to put on the shell of an aircraft

I'm not sure about the relative densities but the Weatherlight was made out of thran metal, I know you cant assume that they are of the same density but you might not be too wrong to assume they are in the same ballpark.

Azeworai, in that case, it is really only a matter of time before someone discovers a new method for traveling between the planes, if we presume that knowledge increases in this game as it does in actuality; just as scientists in actuality have found ways to synthetically replicate various natural processes, it is only logical that magic users in this game will eventually find ways to replicate various phenomena, as well, and it would strain credibility if the story writers prevented that from happening simply to keep planeswalkers unique. For those players who have read the books, the ability of the Weatherlight to traverse the planes of the multiverse in no way made planeswalkers less unique or special, and it is clear that the current employees of WotC do not realize that.

When pertaining to the creation of the Weatherlight, Urza had constructed it. Being a Planeswalker, he was the only being that both truly grasped the concept and was willing to bestow that gift unto others. It didn't make Planeswalkers less endowed due to the fact that only a Planeswalker could 'pass on' the trait.

Azeworai, that is exactly what I am saying; the invention of airplanes does not make birds, or Superman, and less special, since they can fly purely on their own power, whereas everyone else needs a machine to do that.
