Angelic Elspeth

So I just got done watching Aether Hub's latest content regarding what happened to Elspeth in March of the Machines.... personally I love it... I also wanna think that this was all possible due to Serra the Benevolent's old pre-mending planswalker magic. I think some could interpret this as being cheap/silly story writing but it kinda just works for me overall as a whole.

Although its not over yet... I think this story arch has been overall satisfying and I'm pretty pleased with it.

Does everyone think that this newfound power/transformation is permanent or just temporary for stopping the phyrexians?

I could be wrong, but we learned in New Capenna that Elspeth was a native born there, who was captured and imprisoned by (Was it the Phyrexians?) and escaped when her spark ignited?

I didn't read the story; I only watched a few videos casually.

Anyway, wasn't it explained she is half-Angel or something? So her transcending now isn't that far off.

It is nice though to see an Angel Planeswalker.

Im not a lore expert either... i certainly think Capenna is Elspeth's home plane and know it was previously attacked by the phyrexians (not sure how this happened without realmbreaker or karn but it did)... and i know Capenna has halo/angel significance but didnt know elspeth was an angel or in any other way connected to being an angel prior to her latest death.

Not sure how true it is, but I did hear someone mention that Elspeth was Serra reincarnated, which is why she could become an archangel

It would be neat if somehow New Capenna was a remnant of Serra's Realm that didn't sucked into the Weatherlight powerstone. Then it would make sense if Luxior, Giada's Gift contained some remaining Serra-spark. Or Serra is somehow just Elspeth's mother with some sort of spark transference - for more lazy story-writing. New Capenna used to be a governed by angels (like Serra's Realm). A lot of that conjecture would line up with Elspeth having a Serra's Realm/Serra/Serra-spark connection.

I think thats a pretty neat take on the origins of New capenna Gleeock... i dont know if we will ever get any confirmation on that or not but i think that sounds cool.

Yeah, I almost hope that we don't get any confirmation on that because sometimes less-is-more with storytelling. WoTC used to give us much less spelled out info attached to our cards & then we had to imagine or suspect the rest.

I will say it makes a lot of sense for New Capenna = Serra's Realm: - New Capenna, Noir "City of Angels" vibe, mixed with an almost magically forgotten past - Several Demons had -splash, also highly unusual - "Halo" seemed like it was basically mana, all the inhabitants of New Capenna were crazy about the dwindling supply, which makes sense if it was Serra's Plane since it originated as a plane of pure- mana - Giada, Font of Hope mechanically produces mana, storywise she is the remaining source of "Halo". - Giada disappears after Elspeth "equips" Luxior, mechanically it is a sword that interacts uniquely with planeswalkers. Visually it could possibly contain a -spark -New Capenna ran afoul a massive Phyrexian invasion, as did Serra's Realm -Angel-Elspeth now is very mechanically similar to Serra's MO, interestingly; Serra was a human planeswalker as well
