Basic "Protection" question. Please Help!

If I had Akroma's Memorial out and I was running a black/red deck, would my own creature abilities not effect other creatures in my own deck? For instance:

Felhide Petrifier and Rageblood Shaman

Please help! Thanks!

Protection deals with DEBT

Creatures with protection from something cannot be Damaged, Enchanted (Equipped, or Fortified), Blocked, or Targeted by the things they have protection from. Ergo, your creatures will not be affected by any sources they have protection from, including your own.

Protection means a creature can't be damaged, enchanted, blocked, or targetted by whatever it has protection against. Those abilities don't target, so your other minotaurs will be boosted by those lords.

By the way, questions like this belong in the Q&A section, not in the forums.

Man...thats what I thought. Thanks for the info. So what would you suggest is a good alternative to give my minotaur creatures flying? Preferably an enchantment that would effect all of my creatures on the battlefield. Any suggestions?

Oh, sorry this is my first post. I will be sure to post in Q&A next time. Thanks!

In colour? Your only choice is Homura, Human Ascendant . Or Eldrazi Monument if you run tokens. Other than that, you'll have to splash blue for a ton of ways to give all of your creatures flying.

I should finish reading questions. I did not see the lord effect, I assumed you were targeting with something your creatures had protection from.

My bad.

The lords work because they are a global effect, its the same thing with say protection from white and Supreme Verdict . because it doesn't damage, enchant, target, or block the creatures, it will still destroy them.

Do you have sorceries, instants, or auras that you play to target your own minotaurs?

Do you want your minotaurs to be blocked by creatures that are red and/or black?

Do you have red or black equipment to equip to minotaurs?

Do you want your minotaurs to be damaged by red and black sources?

If you answered no to all the above questions, Akroma's Memorial doesn't hurt you at all.

As many people have said before me static abilities don't target, they are simply true of the game state. Because of this, your buffs from Felhide Petrifier and Rageblood Shaman are fine. Things like Felhide Spiritbinder or Warchanter of Mogis would not function because they have to target.

@Gidgetimer, I think what you mean is Felhide Spiritbinder doesn't work on your own creatures because it targets. It still functions though, since there is no restriction on the card saying you must target a creature you control you can target one of your opponents creatures to make a copy.

Yeah, I don't keep up on cards in standard. I did a search for Warchanter of Mogis because I remembered it existed but forgot what it was called using the words "target" and "inspired". I added Felhide Spiritbinder to give a second example and I thought it said "target creature you control" for some reason.

MagicalHacker thanks for breaking it down for me... I completely forgot about sorceries, instants, and aura's. Currently I am using Shiv's Embrace but if I switch it out for Akroma's Memorial I think I should be good to go. Do you guys think that would be a good move? I am a bit worried about trying to get 7 lands out verses 4.

Try it out with some proxies to see if it's worth it :)

I use basic lands with sharpie for my proxies.
