i am curious as to why Guardian Beast is $85. Is it cause of commander?
Because it's a really good card in commander, and it's from Arabian Nights. Many half-decent cards from Arabian Nights are expensive. It's a pretty rare and old set.

Pretty sure it's only paper print run is in Arabian Nights, I could be wrong. I'm assuming it sees play in Commander and is hard to find and thus carries a larger price tag than it probably should.

Oh, the good old Guardian Beast. I remember that back in 1994 we were all dreaming about owning a Guardian Beast, the most expensive Magic card at that time. The card is super cheap when you consider that this was more sought after than any of the Power 9 back in its day. Plus there are fewer Guardian Beasts than Ancestral Recalls out there.
Those ancient cards are not just cards, they are also incredibly rare collector's items. If you care about Magic history you can't have a Magic collection without owning a Guardian Beast.

When the real price of a card is sky-high and the MTGO price is .04, its safe to say the price is due to rarity, not use.

It's also a sick old-school combo with Chaos Orb.

Olde School!!!
Rarity and print run. Definitely due to EDH, otherwise rather unplayable in any other constructive format.
Ah, Shivan Dragon, Force of Nature, Lord of the Pit, Serra Angel, and Leviathan... Those were the beasties back in the day!

A card that didn't see hardly any play Reaper of the Wilds would have made people shit their pants back in the day.

It's the "old school magic" phenomenon. Lots of seemingly garbage rares from the sets up to The Dark are spiking. I would ignore it unless you plan to build an OSM deck.
