Ponder is a great card.
Think Twice is a great card.
They both have their place I think you should not pick one or the other but have both.

When you need a particular card: Ponder
When you just need card advantage, or need to always have mana up for countering/killing spells: Think Twice
If you are playing legacy: Brainstorm

If it's Grixis Control (trust me I play it) you need Desperate Ravings + Forbidden Alchemy for draw. Alchemy is the best but Ravings is a very close second.

checkinyourpants, what make Control, the 'Grixis' part in Grixis Control?? Second question, what set got you into magic?

Where does the term 'Grixis' come in, what separates it from simply being Control? If I play W/U, U/B, U/R, or B/R how do I add 'Grixis' to it?

It's UBR from Shards... And DR is better than TT in general, but it is restrictive on where you can play it and Grixis allows you to Flashback. It digs deeper than TT and you usuall won't discard the exact card you need. And if you don't draw the answer, it gets you one draw step closer than TT .

Wait, so it's called 'Grixis' because Wizards made a theme deck with that name? So people are still naming decks after a product that came out four years ago?
March 4, 2012 10:49 a.m.
No, it's called Grixis because Wizards made a shard of Alara (the U/B/R one) with that name, in Shards of Alara block. Decks are still named after it (and the other shards) because it was an easy way to describe a 3-color ally combination.

go Ponder this question, and you'll find the answer, but if you Think Twice , you might find a better one.
(but really, go with Ponder )

narutozach that was bad, funny but bad.
2austin5 I guess what it really, really comes down to is what is your deck doing/going for?

Pretty much what everybody has been saying, here's my advice, and what I recommend..
Ponder - For combo, and getting the necessary cards for that. Or, if you have a really complex mana base, use it for getting much needed lands.
Think Twice - For keeping mana open to make other player think you have a counterspell, then at end of thier turn, cast it. Then, on your immediate next turn's draw step you get another card.

I am a dedicated Grixis player. That's all i seem to ever want to play. I've been having mixed results with my draw spells. I run 4 Desperate Ravings which is pretty solid, then 2 Forbidden Alchemy which is also pretty solid. THe issue i have is between 2 Ponder or 2 Faithless Looting . looting just absolutely sucks late game, so i'm going to switch to Ponder and see how it goes.

For Card advantage and keeping mana open: Think Twice
