Teferi Pool Combo. How to explain?

I need an easy way to explain the Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir + Knowledge Pool combo to people without using a whole lot of stack terminology.
Last night I got this combo off (Phantasmal Image ed a Rune-Scarred Demon to hunt for the pool) and the guy I was playing with didn't want to accept that it works. I explained it how I understood it to make sense by talking about the stack and how all that works.
Is there a way to explain it to someone without getting too technical? Or am I S.O.L.?

No the teferi pool combo is a hard lock. It prevents people from casting anything rom hand except for me.

Flash Teferi in at EoT then cast Knowledge Pool on your turn.
If an opponent tries to cast a spell it will be exiled into the pool then a triggered ability will go on the stack. Once this happens they are given the choice to put a spell from the pool on the stack. Since the stack still has the Knowledge Pool trigger on it the player CANNOT cast the spell. (Since Teferi says sorcery speed this means the stack HAS to be empty for someone to cast.)
This doesn't effect commanders, flashback, copies (Replicate or storm), cycling, or anything else that doesn't come from the hand.

The key point is the Knowledge Pool trigger on the stack. Without knowledge of triggered abilities, you can't understand the combo. It might be helpful to quote the golden rule of mtg: "Can't effects take precedent over can effects," but I'm afraid there really isn't a much more concise explanation than that.

That's what I was afraid of. In no means do I mean it to be un-fun I just want to use it as a Stasis effect to buy me the time I need to win.
Aura Mind Trick is the deck if you are curious.

What is the goal?
To flash in cheap creatures and cast cards from the Pool without paying their mana cost?
