Most efficient build for Shu Yun?

Commander Deck Help forum

Looking to build Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest.

I was thinking of two builds- either straight voltron with tons of cantrips, or as a general jeskai deck with other prowess creatures.

Any advice as to which build is more efficient?

I think you mean Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest. He's a challenging build, he required a... disynergistic mix of strategies.

Look at my shu-yun-yo-face decklist. It performs amazing in 1vs1 duel Commander. I would not recommend shu yun for multiplayer

If you want to play Shu Yun in multiplayer EDH, just go with Geist of Saint Traft with some minor voltron, lots of control elements, and "symmetrical" effects like Balancing Act, Cataclysm, Armageddon, etc.

Shu isn't very good. You either want to go all in on cheap auras and throw caution to the wind or play a tempo-control strategy with him. Neither produces notable results.

Yeah I'm not really concerned about his competitive viability. I have plenty of powerful decks, this time I just want something new and flavorful but still can maybe insta-murder a single player at least.

Still looking for advice as to my original question

Here's the thing with Jeskai: Every single build I've ever seen has been almost exactly the same, with only a few cards variance. The only exception to that being Ruhan of the Fomori builds.

You can literally build a creatureless, emchantment/spell/artifact only deck in those colors and swap out Shu Yun with Narset, Enlightened Master switching from duel (Shu Yun) to multi-player (Narset) commander, not change a single card in the 99, and dominate.

Nobody will thank you for building such jank, but if you want to win in Jeskai colors, that's what you do with Shu Yun/Narset decks.

Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest is the absolute King of Tiny Leaders. He is pretty terrible in EDH.

If you really want to build around him, I suggest going for Tiny Leaders. You can look at my profile for a deck example.

Theres two ways to build him. One is similar to Geist of Saint Traft, which involves playing him, sitting on countermagic and removal and slowly killing people with commander damage. The second is Eggs. You play a ton of cheap artifacts that draw cards and net mana (all of which trigger prowess) and then you start turning him sideways and playing extra combat cards, killing everyone with a flaming ball of double striking glory.

I'll let you figure out which one I think is more fun.

I had it built for multiplayer once, focussing on stealing opponents creatures and giving them double strike attacking their owner... was an absolute durdle deck but sometimes fun to play
