Generous Ent —Aug. 28, 2023

After thinking for the last few years that there would never be any updates to this deck until we got another Lorwyn set, they hit us with what is likely the best card possible to make the deck run more smoothly: Generous Ent! It solves multiple problems: 1) Making land drops to reliably cast 5+drops. The landcycle ability means it will never be a dead draw in our hand. It also gives the deck more turn 1 plays. 2) 5/7 with REACH! We now have more resilience to flyers which was a weakness before. 3) Lifegain in the form of the food token, which can save us in a pinch and allows us to cut cards like Orchard Warden that are more clunky to use and less reliable.

I will also be trying out a single copy of Fangorn, Tree Shepherd, since vigilance works great with all the toughness in play, and the mana generation might come in handy. Plus I've always wanted to fit in Indomitable Ancients just for the 10 toughness, but couldn't justify it. Now I'll have a 10 toughness creature that's more on color to test out!

Really like this deck wonder if a Changeling Titan might be a good way to synergize with the Harbingers. What do you think?

Why not use Descendants' Path ?? as an addition to Leaf-Crowned Elder

Maybe replace Crib Swap with Path to Exile? But maybe not if you're trying to keep it budget

Otherwise, Awesome deck. Personnally one of my favorite tribes

GenoSans- Path is definitely the better card, but this deck is meant more for casual play. Crib Swap has the added benefit of being able to be cast for free with Leaf-Crowned Elder, which this deck is kind of built around. If you wanted to take this to an FNM I'd add paths for sure, but this is more of what I'd call an optimized-kitchen-table deck. Thanks for looking though!

Have you thought of Huatli, the Sun's Heart? She offers additional utility and another option for your Treefolks to assign combat damage with their toughness.
