Necessary Changes, Part 1 —Aug. 27, 2023
Hello again all!
Once again, I am updating Mayael and making adjustments, but I believe that these are the first of several changes I will be making, but in the spirit of updating all of my decks, I want to make these changes so the deck is more current.
In Search of Greatness ---------------------------> Gwenna, Eyes of Gaea:
I think the search is finally over.... don't get me wrong, the card is great but Gwenna does some WORK in my Dragon deck, and the games I have played with her thus far see very similar results. Simply put... Gwenna is almost like a backup commander in here. Getting 3 taps with her = 6 mana, and at that rate, you can do some MAJOR summoning. Thus, changed.
Greenwarden of Murasa ----------------------------> Verdant Sun's Avatar:
Sadly, this deck needs to solve a lifegain issue, and despite the infinite combo with Angel of Serenity, I feel that the GreenWarden just doesn't cut it anymore in this modern commander age. I had previously taken Verdant Sun's Avatar out of the deck, but at this moment in time it effectively solves the problem of gaining life in this deck in one card. Thus, changed.
Defiler of Vigor ----------------------------> Etali, Primal Conqueror Flip:
Sadly, The Defiler really has enabled a life issue in the deck and I feel that my creatures are fairly big on their own, they dont need the boost.... Versus Etali, which is another Blightsteel late game, OR goes ham on the front. Its been a pretty solid swap, but the Defiler may return to the deck eventually.
